Checklist for Winter Camp

The forecast for Camp Attakapass looks to be a touch of Louisiana winter meaning lows in the mid-30s and highs in the 60s. Rain is expected our last day, so rain gear is essentials. Pack for cold evenings. Use the following checklist to make sure you have the right equipment.

See you Friday night at 6:30 at the troop trailer to stow your gear.

Winter Camp Gear List

CLOTHING:

  • Class A Uniform Shirt
  • Class A pants
  • Class B Red troop t-shirt
  • Troop headgear (Cap, beanie or similar)
  • 2 pair socks
  • Hiking or tennis shoes (all footwear must be closed-toe)
  • Underwear of your choice
  • Thermal underwear
  • Jacket
  • Rain gear (NO disposable ponchos)

DAY PACK:

  • Small backpack or sling
  • Flashlight or headlamp
  • Batteries
  • Water bottle
  • Folding pocket knife w/locking blade (3″ blade or less)

Toiletries:

  • Toothbrush (trim handle to 3″)
  • Toothpaste
  • Towel
  • Small body towel
  • Shampoo
  • Soap
  • Deodorant
  • Comb
  • Chapstick
  • Medications (packed in separate bag and given to medical officer)

BACKPACK:

  • 40 liter Backpack or 20 gallon tote
  • Pack cover
  • Bug spray
  • Compass
  • Boy Scout handbook
  • Zip Loc bags (quart and gallon)
  • Sleeping bag (40º or below)
  • Sleeping bag liner
  • Mess kit

OPTIONAL BUT RECOMMENDED

  • Tripod camp chair
  • Pillow
  • Sleeping pad
  • Sunglasses
