It is with the heaviest of hearts that we say goodbye to one of our favorite Scoutmasters, Eagle Scout Stephen Gilkey. The man who was always on the go and ready for the next adventure now experiences the ultimate experience with the Great Scoutmaster in the Sky.
Troop 10’s Plan C for this past weekend’s water trip went from the Wolf River to Toledo Bend to finally Indian Creek. And not a soul was disappointed! We had loads of fun kayaking, swimming and wiping out behind Dr. Peter’s Waverunners!
Yes, it rained a little, but it didn’t dampen the weekend action!
We are meeting at the Troop Trailer on Saturday, March 28 at 6:30 am for gear shakedown.
We will leave Lafayette promptly at 7:30 am. (Eat breakfast beforehand or bring with you AND bring a trail lunch with you).
We will drive to Backbone trailhead and arrive at 9:30 a.m. We will reach the campsite by noon, set up camp, and then eat lunch at the Creek. Then back to the campsite for dinner and campfire.
On Sunday, we will break camp and head to St. Cyril Catholic Church for Mass in Flatwoods, LA at 11:00. Bring $$ for lunch as we will stop for lunch on the way back. Don’t forget some water shoes and a bathing suit and a small towel to play in the creek!
We’ll be meeting in from of St. Pius X Elementary at 5:30 this Friday, February 27, 2015 and plan to depart soon after.
We’re heading to Camp Steen, which is less than a half-hour away just north of Abbeville. Make sure you have eaten dinner before you come or take it with you. No meals will be provided on Friday night.
Scouts will be cooking all meals (except Saturday lunch) in a Dutch Oven. The menus have been selected by each patrol. And throughout the day, patrols will be vying for points to be used to purchase “Secret Ingredients” for their gourmet meal on Saturday night! Continue reading IRON CHEF WEEKEND!→
